In my third year of watching it was rewarding this morning to finally find an LBBG from Mike Marsh's project based in SE England. Several weeks ago I saw one of his birds on Chouet Beach, but could not read the code...and a week or so earlier did manage to read the ring on one of his Herring Gulls. However, this morning at Chouet landfill Beach Red CVL put in a very brief appearance. This gull had been ringed as a chick at the Port of Felixstowe in July 2005, and had been seen in May 2005 at the landfills around Gloucester, England.
On Chouet Beach I read one of my own metal rings Jersey E5528 - on an LBBG. Originally ringed on Sark in July 1993, this bird had also been recorded in Portimao, Portugal in November 2001 (Harry Vercruijsse), and then back in Guernsey on Chouet Landfill Beach in April 2009.
