I have just discovered that
Herring Gull White 4.FF8, which was seen at Chouet landfill on 16 February 2010 had returned to
Guernsey from
Charente-Maritime, France. In fact this is the gull that was known to have travelled the furthest distance south in the autumn of 2009. It was recorded on 16 August 2009 at
Dehus D’Oleron by Arnoud Spong – some 410 km distant. It had originally been ringed as an adult male at Chouet landfill, Guernsey on 5th June 2009.
